Meet the Doctor
Dr. Suhad Yaldo is the owner of Wellness Pediatrics. She has been a pediatric physician since 2005 and sees patients from newborns to 18 years of age.
Expertise and Philosophy
Functional medicine is at the heart of Dr. Yaldo’s practice. She looks at and treats the root of a problem instead of just treating symptoms. “It challenges me to use all the physiology and biochemistry I learned in medical school and helps me evaluate and treat the patient as a whole instead of just treating a complaint,” she says.
Dr. Yaldo is also focused on helping her patients understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, which includes dietary counseling and treating obesity. She specializes in treating allergic disorders like asthma, eczema, and seasonal allergies, as well as ADHD, autism, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Education
Born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq, Dr. Yaldo dreamed of becoming a doctor from a young age. “It was fascinating to me as a child how my pediatrician was able to diagnose and treat different medical conditions. From that point on, I became focused on learning the science of medicine,” says Dr. Yaldo. “As I advanced in my schooling, my goal continued to solidify as I realized how I can help others feel better in an incredibly significant way.”
After graduating from Al-Mustansiriya Medical School-Iraq in 1995, Dr. Yaldo immigrated to the United States where she did her internship in family practice at Bon Secours Hospital in 2001 and completed her residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 2004.
She found her passion in pediatrics and is board certified in the field with a special interest in functional medicine. “It is my goal to continue to help families and children to maintain health and wellness using the four simple basics of good health: food, sleep, physical activity, and mindfulness.”
In addition to her pediatric practice, Dr. Yaldo works at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, MI, and sees newborns at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. She participates in various continuing education programs including Beaumont Grand Rounds, AAP webinars, medical conferences, and the Institution of Functional Medicine Education Series. She is fluent in English, Arabic, and Chaldean.
Personal
When she is not treating patients, Dr. Yaldo keeps busy with her two children and husband. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, cooking, reading, and running.
Dr. Yaldo is, through and through, a child’s doctor. She was drawn to the field of pediatrics by the simple purity and innocence of children. “They smile when they are happy and feeling well. They are sad and upset when they are not feeling well. They don’t dwell on their complaints. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a child feeling better, they simply don’t hide it!” Contact Wellness Pediatrics in Birmingham, Michigan to schedule an appointment with Dr. Yaldo.
